American actor and musician Awkwafina began her career with hilarious rap tracks that tackled the issue of sexuality and race with the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to expanding her repertoire to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens. Her first encounter with music was from playing the trumpet. The musician also had Jazz and classical training before when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. At college, she was studying the field of women's studies and journalism. She even spent an hour studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. After graduating, it wasn't until that she shifted her focus on music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success over the Internet which led to her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also included songs that were viral such as body-positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter track was linked to another project, Awkwafina's NYC guide to traveling published in 2015. She decided to pursue acting careers after completing her first two initiatives, as a writer and musician. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films such as Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. The actress made headlines during the year 2018, appearing in a handful of high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians.
